It's all urban now, it's all connected and wired now! Especially at Karl Lagerfeld! Chanel is actual, so actual that even Karl gets too wired. On a data center background at the Grand Palais, the fashion show Spring 2017 signed Chanel took place as connected as always.
We are now used with Karl's tendency to be straightforward urban addict and be as pragmatic as possible. He wants to see Chanel in the streets, in the industrials markets, in the pubs, in the groceries. Chanel is the pragmatic urban luxury. And this is what we can clearly see in the latest collection for Spring 2017.
The tweed is worked as always now mixing and contrasting with lingerie. The sporty comfy edge is there, we see the caps and the tweed worked in jackets, skirts, dresses. And everything is connected in wired motifs, in graphics that make your eyes pop. We can see the classic suit, the A-line skirts, the wide-leg pantsuit, the short, long skirts or dresses, tweed jacket over pink silk slips or chunky sweater over tweed skirt. We can feel the young urge and energy towards a always renewing tweed.
The Spring 2017 Chanel collection is, definitely, a French introspection into the modern world.
"It's something of our time," Karl Lagerfeld said to WWD during a preview. "The whole thing is like booting up, wiring up."
