More and more we see some certain changes on the runways. A definite step towards more comfy and cosy collections with sporty allures, and a more precise definition of fashion as a state of consumerism. It was Moschino that indulged us in a world of junk food fashion collection, now we were assaulted by a supermarket fashion walk.
Karl Lagerfeld came in strict opposition to last year Art Gallery catwalk. Now the decor was very mundaine and filled with consumerism. In a 139,930-square-foot labyrinth that made for every model about 4 minutes walk, fashion came as a statement, a transgression from art to "fashion is supermarket fodder", as Karl Lagerfeld put it. Of course, we can see also the obsession of the designer for living a normal life, going to a supermarket without being followed by paparazzi, but also we see a clear social status: we live in an era of consumerism and we can tell it straight to the face.
So, to go to the supermarket, you need a cosy outfit not necessarly a cheap one. Even the rich people go to supermarket. So, high fabrics in Chanel signature like the tweed come along with the sneakers. I already said, I do not find it a perfect match. We can see loose tweed coats, shorts over sweater, baggy pants, a Hefty bag coat also handbags in meat packaging.
The grocery-inspired vibes, definitely, invaded our eyes figuring the Chanel outfits stand very well in this decor too. I think it stood better in an art gallery.
