Paris Fashion Week finished its Couture lines on the catwalk. Of course, one of the most long-awaited was the Chanel fashion show.
Well, let me tell you, for me it was a little disappointment because I expected more. I do not think we have to play the role of the cheerleaders just because it is Chanel. Let's be straight with that!
This Couture Spring 2014 collection is just a sign that when you want to innovate too much in fashion, sometimes you may fail. It is not this case, Karl Lagerfeld has a keen eye for everything that is fashion but somewhere within the line there is something that just not fits perfectly. Just like in this picture, for example:
The artistic creation behind the collection wanted to bring a futuristic vibe, a mix of Chanel symbols (the tweed, which is very little seen) with sport and robotic elements. Trapezoid jacket shapes with voluminous skirt keeping the waist close to the body in respect for a thin size.
I do not think that sparkling glitter can work perfectly with a pair of sneakers, but well! We can mix, definitely, sport and luxury but not through bringing glitter into it.
I think that the dress from the image below goes perfectly with a pair of stilettos, no matter how hard we want to innovate!
A collection with a futuristic vision that reminds me of the SF films. I believe more in a Couture collection that does not forget its roots. Fashion can be versatile, innovative but not futile.
