There are obvious events you can look forward to for fashion inspiration. The Oscars, The Golden Globes, The Cannes Film Festival-they're all well-known events that generate new looks and fashion trends all over the world.
But if you haven't considered checking out the red carpet at the annual Country Music Association awards show, or CMAs, then you're missing out on some seriously dreamy high-fashion. Put aside your opinions of country music. No one's singing when they're walking into the ceremony anyways. They're also not sporting tiny denim shorts and flannel. Instead, attendees to this black-tie event sport some of the most amazingly stunning gowns and outfits of the season.
If you haven't already, check out Daily Mail's CMA red carpet coverage. There were plenty of different looks that you'll want to steal, but three in particular seemed to be a popular theme among the women in attendance.
Black and Shiny
Long, black, and extra shimmery dresses were by far the most popular style on the red carpet this year. Martina McBride, Sharon Stone, Jessie James Decker, and Faith Hill were all spotted wearing this look and the list goes on and on.
In fact, according to a post from US Weekly, singer Jessie James Decker even showed up in the same dress as another attendee, Cassidy Black-the wife of Dierks Bentley. Black however, unlike her name, chose to wear the style in a shade of blue.
Dusty Pastels
Both USA gold medal winning gymnast, Aly Raisman and Carrie Underwood were both spotted sporting dusty pink gowns, while singer Kacey Musgraves wore a purple pastel gown. The colours made their ensembles look both fun and whimsical among a see of stark black dresses.
If you want to recreate this look for yourself, Daily Mail pointed readers in the direction of designer Adrianna Papell. You can find a similar dusty pink dress included in a showcase of Adrianna Papell's pieces on Lyst, in addition to plenty of black and shiny dresses.
Romantic Feather and Lace Accents
Singer Miranda Lambert, The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe, and USA Gymnast Laurie Hernandez all gave their dresses added interest with romantic accents of feathers and lace for a fun and breezy look that helped to lighten the mood against the dark colours that dominated the carpet.
Laurie Hernandez in particular caught the attention of the press. In an article from PopSugar, writer Macy Daniela Martin credited Hernadez's dress as a "copper-toned Fall '16 Tadashi Shoji bodycon number." The scalloped hem and muted, red lace accents gave the dress a feminine and flirty look, while the slim bodice and black tones gave it an overall sophisticated, red carpet ready tone.
Even if you're not a fan of country music, the CMA's red carpet is still definitely worth a look for fashion fans. Check out recaps for inspiration this year, and make sure you mark your calendars for the CMAs in 2017.
