Cannes Film Festival, Peru as the Perfect Filming Location

Festival de Cannes is about the cinematic world but also about all related like filming locations and settings. And Peru seems to be one of them, lobbying for Theo natural landscapes and places for filming. In our interview with Carlos Arce, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of Peru in France, we talked about the importance of filming places for the cinema world and the advantages Peru has on this side.

markets held within the framework of the Festival de Cannes. Under the concept "Unexpected locations where all stories are possible," Peru will present its extraordinary diversity of landscapes,
production capabilities and unique storytelling potential, reinforcing Peru's positioning as one of Latin America's most versatile filming destinations.
Peru offers a remarkable range of filming locations where any story can unfold. From the coastal deserts, beaches and colonial cities of Lima, Arequipa and Piura, to the breathtaking Andes of Cusco
and Puno, and the lush Amazon rainforest regions such as Loreto and Madre de Dios, the country
stands out as a natural, versatile and visually striking film set suitable for productions of all scales. Beyond its iconic destinations, Peru reveals unexpected locations capable of adapting to stories of
every scale and genre, from historical epics and fantasy worlds to contemporary thrillers and intimate human narratives. Peru is far more than audiences imagine: a country where landscapes, cultures and traditions become immersive cinematic experiences.
In recent years, Peru has hosted a growing number of international productions, including major titles such as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Paddington in Peru, and series like La Reina del Sur. In 2025
alone, Film In Peru supported more than 80 audiovisual productions, including projects for Warner Bros., Amazon Prime and Discovery Channel, as well as acclaimed regional co-productions.
Peruvian Delegation at Cannes
The Peruvian delegation at Marché du Film 2026 brings together a diverse selection of filmmakers
and projects reflecting the country's cultural richness, creative range and storytelling potential across
documentary, fiction and animation.
Featured productions include "De Chiclayo al Vaticano: El camino del Papa León XIV" by Horacio
Vergara, an internationally recognised documentary exploring faith, identity and the connection
between northern Peru and the Vatican; "Dualidad Andina" and "Tomairo" by Luis Crisante, inspired
by Andean spirituality and contemporary Peruvian narratives; "La Leyenda de mi Pueblo" by Segundo
Antonio Zevallos Villanueva (Antonio Arrué), based on legends and traditions from communities
across Peru; "Historia de un Retablo" by Daniel Atúncar, a stop-motion animation celebrating
Ayacucho's artistic heritage; and "El Regreso del Tunche" by Jaime Nilo Inga Huamán, a supernatural
thriller blending Amazonian mythology, suspense and ancestral knowledge.Film In Peru Stand at Marché du Film
Film In Peru will welcome industry professionals at its stand at the Marché du Film, where it will
showcase Peru's value proposition as a filming destination and engage directly with international
stakeholders. The space will highlight the country's production capabilities, competitive advantages,
filming locations, facilitation mechanisms and institutional support available for international
productions.
Through direct interaction with the Film In Peru team, attendees will be able to explore filming
opportunities in the country, including local production services, film missions and on-site scouting
initiatives. The stand will also feature visual and digital materials illustrating Peru's audiovisual
potential.
Designed as a strategic meeting point during the market, the stand will facilitate dialogue with media,
content creators and industry professionals, reinforcing Peru's positioning as an attractive destination
for international productions.
Industry Networking Activation
As part of its presence at Cannes, Film In Peru will host a dedicated networking activation at its stand,
on Sunday 17th May from 2pm to 4pm, bringing together international media, content creators
and key audiovisual industry stakeholders. This activity aims to strengthen relationships, increase
visibility among European industry players and position Peru as a compelling destination for future
productions.
The experience will be complemented by curated gastronomic elements, offering guests an authentic
introduction to Peru's rich heritage and creative identity, in line with the country's strategy to connect
audiovisual promotion with tourism.
