The inauguration of a new museum on the Place of the museums in Amsterdam is featuring the exhibitions of Banksy and Warhol. The Modern Contemporary (Moco) Museum (Museum of Contemporary Modern Art) will open its doors in early April. The inaugural exhibition will bring together works of Andy Warhol, the central figure of pop art and Banksy, the legend of urban art (street art). Located on the Place Museum in Amsterdam, the new contemporary art moderne museum addresses a broad young audience internationally. Among the more than eighty works of the two artists face the centerpiece "Beanfield" by Banksy measuring 3m x 4 m, exposed the last time in 2009.
Moco museum is a private initiative of Lionel and Kim Logchies, owners of Lionel Gallery on Spiegelstraat in Amsterdam. The couple worked for over 18 years with renowned artists creations on the international scene, from Picasso to Koons, Hirst and through Basquiat.
Now, the couple gives the possibility to Banksy to have the unauthorized exposure it deserves, after more than two years at the top of the artistic community. The artist formerly known for secretly exhibit his works in museums.
The opening of the Museum Moco be known to the highest quality works of art that would otherwise be inaccessible to the public. Many of these works were lent to the museum by an international network of developers.
Ideally located between the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum, Moco Museum is an impressive house in Alsberg style, creation of architect Eduard Cuypers, cousin of the equally famous Pierre Cuypers, architect of the Rijksmuseum which is situated on the opposite side of the Place museums. The renovation work was carried out by Studio Piet Boon. Also there is a vegetarian restaurant in which the museum gives the possibility to organize various events by reservation.
