Fashion trends for Spring Summer 2014
Over the course of two decades, Raf Simons has become one of the most singular forces in menswear design, producing revolutionary and memorable collections. For the follow-up to a successful initial A/W 2013 collaboration, Simons and adidas build off the unique design codes they've established, such as the "shoe-in-shoe" concept, while unveiling new styles to create greater variance and depth. Exciting additions to the collection include a remix of the Stan Smith tennis shoe and an adidas Bounce-inspired trainer with uppers printed in a seasonal pattern matching the Raf Simons apparel. Based on each shoe's individual tooling, both Performance and Originals logos may feature, while some models boast the iconic three-stripe motif.
The resulting collection includes eight unisex models in up to 4 colorways for a total of 21 unique designs. Each draws on a playful, comic-book aesthetic that features exaggerated shapes and Lego colors and favors Velcro closures over typical lacing. The shoes incorporate a mad mix of materials, such as nylon, leather, sport mesh, and embroidered textiles.
Debuting this June at Paris fashion week, the collection will be on sale in February of 2014. Retail prices range from € 270-350. Available at adidas Originals concept stores, boutiques and retailers carrying RAF, and select sneaker specialists around the world.
