November 30, 2021 represents a historic date with the entry of Josephine Baker into the Pantheon, a great activist for the cause of women and minorities. On this occasion, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has decided to pay tribute to him in turn during an evening at the American Bar at the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo. This mythical place which has welcomed the greatest personalities will be the perfect theater for this moment of homage to the jazzy singer. This evening, animated by an orchestra and the conference of a journalist, Axel Jaffray, will be the opportunity to (re) discover a woman of character in a symbolic place of the Principality of Monaco.

A tribute to the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo for Joséphine Baker on November 30, 2021

To pay tribute to Joséphine Baker, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has chosen an emblematic jazz venue in Monaco, Le Bar Américain. At the heart of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, it has been frequented by the world's greatest personalities. To animate this evening Axel Jaffray, journalist specializing in the field of music and producer, will evoke at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. with two tributes of about thirty minutes each the life of the star and his career. It will be accompanied by the singer's most famous arias, performed by a jazz group. But paying tribute to this artist is also being able to admire her and for that reason unpublished archive photographs will be shown throughout the evening in the room.
The guests will leave humming the artist's tunes and with a booklet specially designed for this evening, allowing them to immerse themselves in the heart of Joséphine Baker's life.
Joséphine Baker and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, six years of shared history
It was in 1969 that Joséphine Baker's historical link was created with the Principality of Monaco and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. Through the decorator André Levasseur, Joséphine Baker met Princess Grace, who, through her generosity welcomes the artist to the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo following his financial difficulties. The star then hosted the Monaco Red Cross Gala for the first time on August 8, 1969 at the Sporting d'été de Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer with her show "Joséphine Baker Show". "It's at the Sporting d'été de Monte-Carlo where I approach perfection," she said after this show. A strong link with Monaco and the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Group, which took a new turn in 1974 with the creation of the "Joséphine" show at the inauguration of the new Monte-Carlo Sporting Club and its new Salle des Etoiles . Such enthusiasm is created that she reconnects with the Parisian scene in order to reproduce this show. With the support of Princess Grace, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has thus contributed to the influence and renewal of the career of this singular personality who, having fallen in love with Monaco, left a historical mark there and still rests there. today.

An evening in complete serenity with Monte-Carlo Cares
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has set up, for the safety of its customers and employees, the Monte-Carlo Cares program, a health system certified by Bureau Veritas, so that the most exclusive of destinations in Europe is also the safest.
