The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics started on Friday with an opening ceremony that gathered together 84 participants from all over the world. A great moment for fashion designers to make another marketing scoop.

The traditional designers kept their places: Ralph Lauren for the USA team with patriotic winter wear, Giorgio Armani for the Italy team with an almost Italian flag outfit.
Chen Peng, the designer for most of performances
For the performances directed by the film director Zhang Yimou, the Chinese graduate from London College of Fashion, Chen Peng, did most of the outfits. Chen Peng won the Yu Prize last year. This year it was a fabulous burst of lights and symbols.One of the most standout outfits was worn by the hockey team for the "Display of the Five Rings". Peng mixed hockey with multimedia art where lights were reflected in a multitude of colors. Also, for the "Spring Awakening" performance, the designer was inspired by China's 24 solar words. The team was mimicking the spring buds growing out from the green soil in a splendor of lights.
Nathan Crumpton, the new face for American Samoa
Although the public was accustomed to the Tongan athlete Pita Taufatofua's oiled and shirtless presence, this year Beinjing introduced a new one in the name of Nathan Crumpton, who carried the flag for American Samoa.
