Gala Awards for Monte Carlo Film Festival

Vivid, filled with talent and humour - a night gala to remember with its Italian vibes and energy !

Hosted by Ezio Greggio, the Founder and President of Monte Carlo Film Festival, the Gala Awards was the night to celebrate the talents from the only festival dedicated to comedy, as Ezio Greggio himself said.

The awards were designated by the President of the Jury, Michael Radford (from whom we loved so much the Merchant of Venice or 1984, Orwell), the American costume designer, Deborah Landis (who created, among, many others, the famous Michale Jackson red jacket from Thriller), the actress Violante Placido and the Variety cinema critic, Peter Debruge.

The awards for the entire career was given to the beautiful Monica Bellucci, Riccardo Scamarcio, Enrico Montesano, to the French composer, Michel Legrand who at 85 years old wants to have 85 concerts this year, Rocco Papaleo, Gianfranco d'Angelo who never seizes to entertain through jokes, anecdotes, or even poems and to Ficarra et Picone. Also, Costa Gavras received his awards for his entire career.

Also, John Landis who never stops laughing and having a good energy around him was awarded « Comedy Legend Award », although he was not very sure about how mystified he could get by receiving a « legend » award.

A special award for this 14th edition of Monte Carlo Film Festival was that of popularity, the Public Award presided by Remo Girone.

The other awards of the evening were :

Special Jury Prize : Two Lottery Tickets pour MOTIVAZIONE (Paul Negoescu)

Best Film: The Distinguished Citizen (Gastón Duprat et Mariano Cohn)

Best Director: ‎Swiss Army Man (Dan Kwan et Daniel Scheinert)

Best Actor: ‎Daniele Parisi (Orecchie)

Best actress: Catherine Deneuve (The Midwife)

Audience Award: Orecchie (Alessandro Aronadio)

A great musical surprise of the evening was Imany who enchanted the entire audience with her charm and musical talent. She sang her 2016 hits like « Don't be so shy » and « Clap your hands » from her second album, « The wrong kind of war ».

The entire evening was celebrating the good energy and comedy and everyone awarded on the scene was a part of this entire universe that links great talents with natural skills and beauty (embellished by people like Monica Bellucci or Catrinel Marlon) .
