Biot, a glass creation center and holder of the Ville Métiers d'Arts label for glass, is organizing from 21 to 23 September 2018, the BIG Festival: "Biot International Glass Festival", an international event around Glass.

Eloi Monod, founder of the glass bubble (1956), then the family Lechaczynski (1973) were able to give the creative impulse that has made the Verrerie de Biot the shift to contemporary creation with the international glass gallery. These precursor masters have generated a whole generation of glassmakers. The Riviera municipality has since become a privileged scene for the creation of this material.

The city of Biot, which has not stopped promoting glass in all its forms, its glassmakers and the creativity of its renowned artists, had to create a major event to pay tribute to the glass and its glass. creators. Thus, in collaboration with its glassmakers and with the financial support of BIVA, Biot wanted to welcome and bring together professionals around the same passion, glass, to celebrate glass as it should.   During 3 days, several sites of the town will be invested by exhibitions and many animations and demonstrations. This festival will have ambassadors 3 guests of honor, Gerald Vatrin, Gabriel Feenan and Richard Price who will be exposed with 8 other French and international artists in the heart of the beautiful village of Biot.

This first edition will allow the general public to discover the richness and variety of the international creation of art craftsmen and glass artists. "Our ambition is to promote the transmission of glass memory to the general public," says Guilaine Debras, Mayor of Biot. This gathering of glass professionals will allow them to share, to exchange, to make known to the general public this art of fire so spectacular and airy in its diversity, to explain the techniques, to involve visitors in fun workshops but also pedagogical, to show the beauty of this art through unprecedented artistic performances and unique creations. Ambitious goals for this unique event.
